I'm a multi-media artist. The things I design and make are born of concepts currently important in my life and fabricated with beautiful materials and lots of found, recycled and vintage items: all part of my mission to promulgate sustainable beauty.
Fiber work has always engaged me, whether it is turning threads into fabric with ancient lace-making techniques, or pushing the envelope of digital embroidery programming. I love the tactile nature of yarns, threads and textiles along with their endless possibilities.
Filaments are fascinating: wires bent, twisted, formed and forged, sometimes with the addition of flames. I adore gemstones, crystals, beads, and all manner of shiny things. Miniature details and working small attracts me. I love making jewelry.
Fragments of wood, metal, bone, textiles, glass, and detritus, are found, salvaged, carved, pierced, polished and decorated with engraving or pyrogravure. I've never been able to pass a garbage pile without seeing potential raw materials. There is no such place as "Away" and nothing should be wasted. Currently, I'm utilizing a fallen Olive tree.
As varied as my work is, it has an unmistakable style incorporating extreme attention to detail, ancient aesthetics and contemporary lines.
